Risk Integrated was founded in 2001 to provide software-enabled consulting™ to financial institutions, corporations and governments. Our concept of software-enabled consulting is that we provide complex tailored financial analytics and make them available to all users by implementing them in a full enterprise-level system. By taking the analytics all the way through to implementation, we ensure that the results can be fully exploited by the organization.
Our focus is on risk management systems for specialized finance—primarily commercial real estate and project finance. We provide a range of services around this focus:
- Instant on-line analytics from the Specialized Finance System running on our centralized servers as an ASP business
- In-house deployment of the system at the institution, with or without customizations
- Delivery of analytics and models in pure Excel/VBA
- Implementation of client’s prototype models as enterprise level systems using our Enterprise Spreadsheet Platform
- Provision of general risk training and methodology development
Risk Integrated’s goal is to deliver sophisticated risk measurement tools in pragmatic packages to be used in all aspects of the business from initial deal structuring and pricing through to portfolio management and provisioning. Risk Integrated’s first projects were for OECD governments, emerging markets governments and then the World Bank to provide software to quantify the risk in guarantees to infrastructure development projects. These models were further developed to cover power generation, PFI and oil, gas & mining. Through a recent project, the models are being used for Advanced Basel compliance by the bank with the world’s largest project finance portfolio.
In 2003, Anglo Irish Bank asked Risk Integrated to build-out our prototype commercial real estate model to cover its lending to special purpose property companies. Risk Integrated built a suite of property-lending models for investment, commercial construction and housing construction. We embedded these analytics in an enterprise-level system directly linked to the core banking system. As part of the contract with Anglo Irish, all the intellectual property remained with Risk Integrated and was incorporated into the Specialized Finance System. From the completion of the implementation project, Risk Integrated has continuously provided support and maintenance for the models and system.
Over the last eight years Risk Integrated has delivered risk management and reporting solutions to financial institutions ranging from small regional banks to global commercial real estate banks and the World's largest bank. The SFS is also in use by asset managers for portfolio management and optimization. The challenges faced by these institutions included limited ability to report on individual assets or portfolios, time-consuming stress-test reporting, and difficulty in getting grading models to give useful or meaningful results for specialized finance assets. Risk Integrated’s technology provides an immediate solution to these challenges.
